Welcome to the France 24 Debate. Tonight we are focusing on the elections on India where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is already claiming victory. A historic third successive term. Counting continues, but not that he is bothered.
Modi has been criticised throughout the election campaign for abusing state press and broadcast media – essentially using them as the mouthpiece for his campaign. There was also the case of the jailed opposition figures, the alleged suppression of the Muslim vote.
