Under heavy police protection, hundreds of Israeli settlers assault Palestinians and storm Al Aqsa Mosque complex.
On so-called “Jerusalem Day”, extremist Israeli groups and fanatic Zionist settlers celebrate Israel’s illegal occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967.
Participants in the march typically wave Israeli flags, spit on Muslim and Christian residents and chant genocidal slogans such as “Death to Arabs”, “Every Arab is a terrorist” and “Burn their village.”
Palestinians see the march as a blatant provocation aimed at erasing the Islamic, Arab identity of Jerusalem and undermining their claim to East Jerusalem as the capital of independent Palestine.
Hamas resistance group says the Zionist march “confirms the occupation approach to Judaise the (Jerusalem) sanctities.”
This year, several members of the Israeli extremist government took part in the march, there were reports of desecration of Muslim graves in the Bab Al-Rahma cemetery and Palestinian journalist Saif Kwasmi was assaulted.
