Mauritania elections: Linguistic diversity under threat? • FRANCE 24 English

Nearly 2 million people are expected to go to the polls on Saturday in Mauritania with President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani running for a second term. One issue that could influence the vote is the country’s official language. Arabic is becoming increasingly dominant in Mauritania and is now the official language in the education system.
