In 2016, Boston in Lincolnshire, UK, set the national record for votes in favour of Brexit with 77 percent. Immigration was the primary concern of the residents of this town in the North East of England, where the presence of Eastern European shops and restaurants had multiplied. Eight years later, successive Conservative governments are accused of not having kept their promises and the town is one of the key constituencies chosen by the new hard right party Reform UK, in their attempt to win seats in Parliament, with the promise of reducing immigration to “net zero”.
