US President Joe Biden said on August 1 that the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh “has not helped” the chances of reaching a ceasefire in Israel’s war on Gaza.
Haniyeh was part of the internationally-brokered indirect talks, involving Qatar, Egypt and the US — all of which have acted as key mediators between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas.
