A new left-wing populist party has performed very well in the German state elections. It’s called the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance, named after its founder. The party isn’t even a year old, but came third in both Thuringia and Saxony. It combines a left-wing economic policy with an agenda to cut immigration and oppose Germany’s support for Ukraine. The party leader says she’s ready to work in coalition with others.
