Tunisian media are under heavy scrutiny from the government and the ISIE, the elections authority, in the run up to the presidential elections scheduled to be held on October 6. Journalists have lost their accreditations, others have faced intimidation, some are imprisoned, and there is a lack of critical debate — a media climate that is disintegrating according to Human Rights Watch, in a press release published mid-August. Some journalists are trying to get around it through alternative news outlets on social media networks. FRANCE 24’s team reports.
