Former Conservative cabinet minister Jonathan Aitken says the government is doing the "right thing" by freeing prisoners early.
The government let out 1,750 prisoners last week as part of the early release scheme aimed at combating prison overcrowding.
Mr Aitken was jailed for 18 months in 1999 after admitting perjury and perverting the course of justice.
He is now a prison chaplain and spoke to Sky News about the situation in prisons, and his own path from prisoner to chaplain.
