The governor of the People’s Bank of China, Pan Gongsheng, has shared new measures meant to boost the country’s economy. China’s central bank is lowering its benchmark interest rate as well as reducing the cash requirement that banks are supposed to hold in a bid to free up lending capacity and reach the government’s target of 5 percent growth this year.
