The confirmed death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah Saturday came as a “shock” for Lebanon, according to L’Orient le Jour political desk deputy chief Salah Hijazi, pointing to Nasrallah importance and hold on the fractured country. Due to Hezbollah’s popularity in Lebanon, where it is “perceived as the liberator … and the author of the victory of the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war”, Nasrallah’s death is unlikely to remove the group from power in the country, Hijazi said.
