Moscow has condemned Israel’s killing of the Iran-backed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. It followed a devastating Israeli attack across Lebanon, in which communications devices exploded, killing or maiming many of the group’s fighters, as well as civilians. Reuters has since reported that two senior Iranian officials are worried the communications devices used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard might be compromised.
On Monday, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin traveled to Tehran for talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on issues of trade and military cooperation. Mishustin also met with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref. Western governments accuse Iran of supplying drones and weapons to Russia for its war in Ukraine.
