Sir Keir Starmer has condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel, accusing the Iranian regime of harming "innocent Israelis" and pushing the region "ever closer to the brink".
Speaking from Downing Street, the prime minister said: "We stand with Israel and we recognise her right to self-defence in the face of this aggression. Iran must stop these attacks – together with its proxies, like Hezbollah."
Sir Keir later avoided answering a question from the press on whether the UK would use its military capabilities to help Israel defend itself.
