‘We want the world to recognize gender apartheid as a crime against humanity’, says Marzieh Hamidi

France 24 spoke to Marzieh Hamidi, a taekwondo champion for Afghanistan who is a refugee in France since 2021 when the Taliban returned to power in Kabul. It all started in late August, when she posted a video on social media denouncing "gender apartheid" in her country. Since early September, she is under police protection.
