People across Israel and the world are remembering 7 October attacks a year on, in which Hamas killed about 1,200 people and took 251 people hostage.
Since then, nearly 42,000 people have been killed during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Commemorations have been held on Monday morning centred on the site of one of the first places to be attacked – the Nova music festival. It lies three miles from the border with Gaza and Israel’s President Isaac Herzog led a minute’s silence.
