“Pope Francis, go to Gaza for God’s sake!”
Kathy Boylan, an 81-year-old resident of Washington, DC and a member of the Catholic Worker Movement, has fought tirelessly since the start of Israel’s genocide on Gaza for a ceasefire and arms embargo, getting arrested on one occasion in March for praying for peace in the halls of Congress.
In front of St Patrick Catholic Church in Washington DC, she tells TRT World that she has repeatedly emailed the papal ambassador, or Nuncio, to the US since December 2023, demanding that the Pope immediately travel to “concentration camp called Gaza”.
Earlier this month, Pope Francis has called for an “immediate ceasefire” in the Middle East, the release of Israeli “hostages” and for more aid into Gaza. But he has failed to call out Israel’s repeated war crimes and starvation strategy.
