King Charles has used his first speech as Head of the Commonwealth to encourage world leaders to look to the future, as he avoided directly addressing deepening divisions over slavery reparations.
Speaking at the Commonwealth Summit in Samoa, he acknowledged the pains of the past but stopped short of a formal apology – which is what many countries seek.
