The death toll from Israeli air strikes on Lebanon’s eastern city Baalbek has risen to 57, with dozens more injured, the Lebanese official news agency reported on November 2.
More than 25 air strikes targeted residential areas, including the Ras Al Ain neighbourhood, causing extensive damage to homes, businesses and tourist sites, according to the agency.
In the village of Amahz, 12 members of the Amahz and Bazal families were killed. Another strike between the towns of Harabta and Ras Al Haddath claimed the lives of six family members, including parents and their four children.
More fatalities were reported in several other villages, including eight in Younine, six in Bednayel and five in Saeeda, while a family of four was killed in the town of Al Alaq.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Lebanon in October, nearly 2,900 people have been killed and over 13,000 injured in Israeli attacks, according to Lebanese health authorities.
More than 78,000 people have been displaced from their homes in the district, according to the International Organization for Migration.
