The political dynamic is shifting in Berlin. A snap election is expected in February, after the ruling coalition fell apart. Chancellor Olaf Scholz is facing pressure from within his own party to stand aside as their lead candidate. Some Social Democrat lawmakers have called for him to be replaced by Boris Pistorious, the defense minister who enjoys higher public approval ratings. Now Pistorious has been quoted as saying he won’t rule anything out.
