Medical doctor, politician and activist Mustafa Barghouti shares what it was like for him growing up in Palestine, not many years after the Nakba of 1948. This includes the impact his politically active family had on him, further strengthened by his lived experience of the 1967 War – during which he developed a greater appreciation for the need for Palestine to become self-reliant and organise against Israel, as an occupying power that sought to undermine the aims and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
