US President-elect Donald Trump has announced plans to impose 25% tariffs on all imports from Mexico and Canada when he returns to office in January.
Trump blamed the neighboring countries for not doing more to prevent the flow of migrants and drugs into the US. He also urged China to impose the death penalty for drug smugglers, threatening to hit Chinese goods with another 10 percent tariff. The US government’s own data shows that most illegal drugs are smuggled into the country by Americans at legal border crossings.
