Traditional medicine using natural products continues to be the healthcare alternative for millions of people across Africa. Practiced by healers and traditional practitioners, the combination of local plants and ancestral knowledge make the alternative popular amongst communities in West Africa. In Dakar, herbal medicine or phytotherapy is used by many therapists to treat various illnesses. Although it is a widely practiced method, it faces significant challenges due to lack of official recognition, particularly when it comes to the content of the remedies.
