The takeover of Royal Mail by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky has been approved by the government – allowing the postal service to pass into foreign ownership for the first time.
The total value of the takeover is £5.3bn – which includes the company’s debt.
The deal had been agreed in May but was subject to a government review under national security laws as Royal Mail is considered vital national infrastructure.
