Mass graves continue to be discovered across Syria, including 12 in the southwestern city of Daraa on December 16. Another mass grave was found earlier in the Baghdad Bridge area just outside Damascus.
The graves are believed to contain the remains of civilians killed by the ousted Assad regime, with hundreds of thousands of Syrians estimated to have been killed since 2011 when Assad’s crackdown on protests spiralled into a full-scale war.
