Magdeburg suspect supported Germany’s far-right AfD, self-described as Islam critic | DW News

German authorities have charged the suspect in the deadly attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg with five counts of murder and several of attempted murder. Five people died and more than 200 were injured when the suspect drove a car through crowds at the market on Friday night. The suspect’s social media posts reveal support for Germany’s far-right party AfD, as well as a harsh critique of Islam, Saudi Arabia, and Germany’s asylum policies.
