“Returning to work helps me overcome the psychological impact of the amputation. I exist. I am positive, not negative. I can help,” said Dr Khaled Al-Saidi, a Palestinian pediatrician.
After losing his leg in an Israeli attack, Dr Al-Saidi has resumed treating children at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital while adapting to life with a prosthetic leg.
Living with diabetes, his condition worsened after the injury, resulting in an amputation. Yet, just six months later, he returned to the pediatric emergency department, committed to continuing his 23-year mission of caring for children.
