Fact checking to be scrapped on Facebook and Instagram | DW News

The social networking giant Meta says it will scrap fact-checking on Facebook and Instagram. This was originally put in place to stop the spread of misinformation, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg says most content moderation will now done by the users, adopting a community-based model similar to that used by X. The change marks a reversal of policies Mr Zuckerberg has long championed despite criticism from conservatives over alleged censorship. The Meta CEO acknowledged that the shift has been partly triggered by the election of Donald Trump.
