Raging wildfires are continuing to burn in the Los Angeles area, with firefighters struggling to bring them under control.
At least five people have been confirmed to have died. Tens of thousands more fled their homes or are under evacuation orders.
DW spoke to wildfire expert Lindon Pronto, who began his career as a Wildland Firefighter in California, on why the fires have been so devastating and so hard to stop.
