Palestinians in Gaza City are working to restore the historic Great Omari Mosque, severely damaged during recent Israeli attacks.
The mosque, originally 1,100 square meters in size, now has just 300 square meters of usable space due to extensive destruction. Despite these challenges, the community is determined to rebuild and prepare the mosque for prayers.
This restoration effort comes in the wake of a ceasefire agreement reached on Sunday.
Palestinian Ministry of Religious Affairs in Gaza estimates that 79 percent of mosques in the enclave have been destroyed by Israeli attacks since Tel Aviv launched its brutal war on the territory.
Out of Gaza’s 1,245 mosques, 814 have been completely destroyed, and 148 others have suffered severe damage.
