Four female Israeli hostages – all soldiers – who were held in Gaza have been handed to the Red Cross, in the second hostage release since a ceasefire was agreed.
Hamas gunmen and crowds gathered in Palestine Square in Gaza City ahead of the release.
The Israeli military confirmed that the four women will be taken to Israeli territory, “where they will undergo an initial medical assessment”.
In exchange as many as 200 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel are set to be freed.
Hamas is expected to provide more information about the remaining 26 hostages due to be released in the coming weeks.
