Boom Supersonic plans to break the sound barrier for the first time during a test flight of its XB-1.
This is to demonstrate that the tech has capabilities to be used commercially in a passenger jet they are hoping to create called Overture, which (if all goes to plan) would become the first supersonic passenger jet since the British-French Concorde, which was retired in 2003.
