In northern India at least seven people have been reported killed and many more injured in a crush at the world’s largest religious festival. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the incident as "extremely sad" and extended his condolences to those who have lost their lives. The crush happened as tens of millions of Hindus gathered to bathe at the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers on the most significant day of the Maha-Kumbh-Mela festival in Uttar Pradesh state.
