Thousands of protesters in Bangladesh vented their anger at ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she prepared to deliver a speech to her supporters from exile in neighbouring India, by destroying her father’s home which had come to symbolise the country’s independence.
Her father, Bangladesh’s first president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is widely regarded as an independence hero, but his association with Hasina has made him a target of public outrage.
