The US Secretary of State has declared that Moscow and Washington want to work towards ending the war in Ukraine in a way that is "enduring, sustainable, and acceptable to all sides". Marco Rubio’s comments followed his meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Saudi Arabia – without Ukrainian or European representatives. It was the first high-level meeting between the two countries since Russia invaded Ukraine.
