Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine has received security guarantees from the US in exchange for access to Ukraine’s minerals.
Speaking at a news conference, the Ukrainian president said he "really wanted at least one sentence" mentioning security guarantees – and said Ukrainian officials have told him it is there.
Donald Trump says he wants a $500bn deal to access Ukraine’s mineral wealth as a payment for US support in the war against Russia.
Mr Zelenskyy also said he aimed to meet President Trump on Friday – but the trip was not confirmed.
