UN Under-Secretary General Jorge Moreira da Silva has told DW the reaction of the international community to the breakout of violence in the coastal regions in Syria last week is "wise and mature."
Speaking on the sidelines of an annual conference for the country, Moreira da Silva told our Brussels bureau chief, Alexandra von Nahmen, that “unless we provide support, the fragility will further deteriorate and it can erode the momentum" gained from the new government in Damascus taking over.
