A herd of elephants has been filmed huddling in a circle to protect their calves during a small earthquake.
The animals can be seen rushing towards younger members of the group as the 5.2-magnitude quake hits San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Elephants can ‘feel’ sound through their feet and will bunch up in a circle if they perceive a threat.
The zoo said the two older elephants in the group stood guard over the young members for several minutes as the ground shook.
