- Retired, I started Prepping many decades ago. When store shelves are empty, I can get my barter items out and barter. I will not accept Federal Reserve Notes. People can barter Labor for items they need if that is all they have to barter. My community will thrive. I have never had a credit card.
- I petitioned my city to change their ordinances in regards to backyard chickens and they said, YES! I’m shocked small towns like mine have ordinances AGAINST it to begin with, but I digress. If you live in an area that doesn’t allow backyard chickens, take action. Remind them who votes them in. Always start in your own backyard!
- Keep calm and carry on….buy 5 extra items each shopping day, canned goods, dry goods, rice, bags of flour, bags of barley, extra tea bags, extra can of coffee…things that don’t expire quickly, and only things you will use….. and remember to share if times get challenging …..and organize well…mark the expiry dates and use the oldest first..I use new garbage cans both metal and plastic with a good lid and store in the basement for anything in a bag..and metal shelves for canned goods
- I’m glad it’s spring time. We live in a small community and suddenly everyone is buying chickens and starting gardens (I’ve NEVER seen a waitlist for chicks before). Our gardens had gotten smaller over the years, but I’ve invested in fresh seed and am reviving land that has laid fallow for a few years. Last night we installed a beehive with a queen imported from Canada for our cold climate. I ordered the insulated beehive (imported from Turkey) last Feb. Now, I’d like one of my hens to go broody and hatch chicks as our chickens are duel purpose.
- I let the gardens rest last year. Back on it this year with a vengeance. I want to grow over 200 vegetable, fruit, and herb plants this year. And reduce my grocery costs by 40%. We will also support local farmers, butchers and farmer’s markets. There will be more reporting over the next couple of weeks on the drop in shipping. By next Friday (pay day) demand will increase and the shortages will become apparent.
- I was in retail management during covid. We had empty shelves constantly and were told there was no product coming for months. Truckers told me there was product in distribution but it was being “held” for no apparent reason. They’re probably gonna pull that BS again and charge us quadruple for shift we already have here in this country.
