A massive power outage has hit Spain and Portugal, including their capitals, and affecting millions of people there and in parts of southern France. Spanish grid operator Red Eléctrica says it’s working to restore supplies. Transport networks have been disrupted and Spain’s traffic authorities have asked people not to use their cars where possible. Financial services and telecommunications are also hit. The cause of the outage remains unknown. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen says there are no indications that this was a cyber attack.
