It’s been a hyperactive first 100 days for Donald Trump, from scaring global markets with his tariff turmoil, to seemingly ignoring court orders over his immigration crackdown, to his shouting match with Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House. During campaigning last year, Trump promised the American people that he’d shake things up, and did he ever. But the chaos, shock and revenge of the start of his second term have seen his approval ratings plummet. And the news is that the US economy shrank by 0.3% in the first quarter of this year: the first drop for three years. As you might imagine, the president explained things rather differently to a rally in the US state of Michigan.
