Which countries could help deescalate the India and Pakistan crisis? | DW News

India and Pakistan are neighbors with a troubled history. They’ve already fought four wars, and are now embroiled in a crisis that could become their fifth. Last month, in Indian-administered Kashmir, 26 people – most of them Hindu tourists -were killed in what India says was a terrorist attack.

Although Islamabad says it had nothing to do with the attack, Delhi is accusing its neighbor of being a breeding ground for terrorists. The situation has spiraled in one deadly direction ever since — with neither side willing to back down.

World leaders have been calling on India and Pakistan to ease the tensions.
DW speaks to Daniel Markey a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute, at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
