US President Donald Trump held talks with Syrian President Ahmed Alsharaa and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan joined over speaker phone.
The last time a US president met with his Syrian counterpart was over two decades ago, when Bill Clinton met with Hafez al Assad in a bid to revive stalled Israeli-Syrian peace talks.
Erdogan said during the meeting that Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria is of historic importance.
