Another thing they seem to have a habit of doing that I found out quite a while back was giving grants to their friends, who would buy property in some charitable namesake, but when the smoke clears, they sell the property for more money to somebody else who got a grant, and it keeps going on and on. One of the bigger money laundering scheme they have in their arsenal of money laundering schemes. That they make legal btw cause they pass the laws that make it legal. So, technically not money laundering - Bernie also funnels campaign funds through a non profit founded by his wife. Also, didn’t the DNC pay him off when they screwed him over during the 2016 campaign against Hillary? Something happened to shut him up.
- Democrats have been doing this a very long time – Jim Wright, who served as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1989. Wright, a Democrat from Texas, resigned amid an ethics scandal involving a book deal, though he was not formally removed from office. In 1988, the House Ethics Committee investigated Wright for several allegations, including a scheme involving his book, Reflections of a Public Man. Wright had arranged for bulk purchases of the book by interest groups, such as the Teamsters Union, which bought 1,000 copies. This allowed him to earn royalties (about $3.25 per book) in a way that appeared to circumvent House rules limiting outside income. The arrangement was criticized as a scheme to funnel money to Wright, as the book’s content was largely a collection of speeches and essays, and the bulk sales were seen as a way to launder payments rather than genuine interest in the book. The Ethics Committee found that Wright’s book deal violated House rules by allowing him to earn excessive outside income. Facing mounting pressure and additional allegations (like improper influence with savings and loan regulators), Wright resigned as Speaker and from Congress in June 1989, before any formal vote to remove him could occur.
