Egyptian security forces and civilians blocked and attacked participants of the Global March to Gaza at a checkpoint en route from Cairo to Ismailia on June 13, prompting organizers to urgently call all activists back to the capital amid escalating violence.
The march, which brought together around 4,000 activists from more than 80 countries, planned to travel by bus from Cairo to Arish in North Sinai, then proceed on foot to the Rafah Border Crossing near Gaza. Its mission was to demand an end to Israel’s ongoing genocidal war and push for the delivery of aid stockpiled on the Egyptian side into besieged Gaza.
