At least 16 people have been killed and 400 wounded in nationwide anti-government protests in Kenya as thousands took to the streets on June 25, 2025.
The demonstrations marked the first anniversary of deadly protests in 2024, when more than 60 people were killed over a controversial Finance Bill that proposed tax hikes.
In Nairobi, the epicenter of the demonstrations, protesters clashed with heavily deployed security forces. Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds.
