Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander announced that she has given the green light to more than 50 road and rail upgrades.
Speaking to Sky’s Wilfred Frost she outlined plans for new link roads between motorways, the dualling of key A roads, and new train stations.
She admitted that some of the schemes are "very significant" and will take "a number of years to be constructed".
