Treasury minister James Murray says the government is ‘unequivocal’ in its commitment to recognise Palestine as a state.
Asked if the UK will do so in September along with France, the exchequer secretary to the Treasury says it is a case of ‘when, not if’.
But he added that ‘it has to be part of that pathway to peace’, a message Sir Keir Starmer has repeatedly said.
