Does Turkey’s judiciary function independently or as a tool to crush Erdogan’s opposition? | DW News

Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, is facing a widening crackdown. Since then, more than a dozen other CHP mayors and hundreds of their staff have been detained or jailed over similar allegations. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government reject claims that the arrests are politically motivated.
