A Swiss pilot has broken the record for the highest ever flight using a solar-powered electric plane. His development team says the plane took him to a soaring 9,521 metres, surpassing the previous altitude record which stood for 15 years. The SolarStratos plane made the landmark flight from an airport in southwest Switzerland, taking advantage of warm air thermals to take the title.
