The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is demanding the immediate release of Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim, a 16-year-old Palestinian American who has been illegally detained by Israel without trial for more than six months after allegedly throwing rocks—accusations his family denies.
CAIR says Mohammed has since lost 25 pounds and contracted scabies, urging President Trump to act.
According to The Guardian, Israeli forces raided his home in the occupied West Bank village of Silwad in February, when he was just 15. He was blindfolded, handcuffed, and taken to Israel’s Megiddo Prison, notorious for the abuse of Palestinian children that often leads to malnutrition, illness, and even death.
“What kind of nation watches its own children be unjustly detained and does nothing?” asked CAIR-Florida Deputy Executive Director Hiba Rahim.
“This is not isolated. Just weeks ago, his cousin, Sayfollah Musellet, a 20-year-old from Florida, was beaten to death by Israeli settlers. Two sons from one family devastated by the same violent system—funded by our tax dollars and met with our government’s silence,” she added.
