Brazil’s top federal prosecutor has accused Jair Bolsonaro and his inner circle of orchestrating a coup to cling to power after losing the 2022 election. The former president and seven of his allies now face charges of leading an armed criminal organisation, attempting to violently dismantle Brazil’s democratic institutions, and plotting a coup.
